Purple Shabbat Lunch + Learn With JCADA

Join us around Rabbi Anna’s Shabbat table for bagels, tea, and an important conversation in partnership with JCADA, the Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse. Purple Shabbat is JCADA’s way of bringing awareness about abuse in intimate relationships into Jewish spaces, and of reminding us that our communities can be places where people are safe, believed, and supported.

Together we'll explore this week’s Torah portion, Toldot, which gives us Rebekah’s question in the midst of a painful pregnancy: “If so, why do I exist?” Rabbi Anna will be joined by Lisa Buch, LMSW, a clinician at JCADA and a member of the Den community, to use that question as a starting point to talk about listening, safety, and making room for one another. We’ll also get practical, exploring what JCADA does for our community, how we can support their work, and how we can be there for those impacted.

Whether this topic is new to you or close to home, you are welcome here, and no background is needed. If you’d like to talk privately, Rabbi Anna and Rabbi Aderet are always available for pastoral support.

This gathering will be taking place in Northwest DC - specific location details will be shared with registrants.

If you or someone you know is experiencing intimate partner abuse, contact JCADA confidentially at 1-877-885-2232 or email support@jcada.org.
